AI B-roll · Talking-head video
AI B-roll generator for talking-head videos
EditorOP adds B-roll to your talking-head video by reading what you say. For each moment that needs a picture, it searches your own B-roll library first, then stock footage from Pexels, and places the clip on the line it illustrates. Cutaways stay short and sparing. Every shot sits on a timeline where you can swap it, change its layout or delete it before you export.

Why it matters
B-roll that follows your words
B-roll is the footage that cuts away from you while you keep talking: your product, your desk, a street, a screen. In a talking-head reel it gives viewers something new to look at, but only when it shows what you’re saying at that moment. A stock clip that doesn’t match the sentence makes the whole video feel cheaper.
EditorOP treats B-roll as support for the point, not decoration. It looks for the lines where a picture helps, uses your own footage wherever it can, and keeps a plain talking head mostly plain.
Where clips come from
Your clips first, then stock
Your B-roll library
Add clips of your product, workspace or process once and reuse them in every project. Say in a few words what is in each clip: EditorOP matches those words to what you say. For a clip over 10 seconds, you pick the part to use.
Stock footage from Pexels
When your library has nothing that fits, EditorOP searches Pexels for the line, checks each clip against the sentence it would play over, and puts the closest match first.
Your choice of source
Under More options on the New reel screen, set Cutaways to My library, then stock (the default), My library only, or Stock only.
Real footage, not generated
EditorOP doesn’t generate clips with a video model. Every cutaway is a real clip: one of yours, or stock.
How it works
How EditorOP places B-roll
Pick a source and an intensity
Choose where cutaways come from. The Light intensity adds the fewest stock cutaways and Bold the most.
The AI reads your transcript
After the cut, it marks the lines where a picture would help and writes a search for each one from your own words.
It finds a clip
Your library is searched first. If nothing matches, stock clips are checked against the sentence and the closest fit wins.
It places the cutaway
The clip lands on the line it illustrates, as a short cutaway in a layout that suits the shot. Stock stays sparse; your own clips aren’t held to that limit.
You review it
Each cutaway is its own piece on the B-roll track, ready to keep, swap or delete before you export.
On the timeline
What you can change
Replace a shot
Search stock, pick from your library or upload a new clip, straight from the cutaway you want to change.
Change the layout
Fullscreen, a picture-in-picture panel, or screen on top with your face below, for one cutaway or the whole reel.
Move, trim or delete
A cutaway is a clip like any other: drag it, shorten it or remove it.
Layer cutaways
Stack up to three B-roll layers at the same moment.
Put it behind you
Where the shot allows, turn on Behind you and the cutaway plays behind a cut-out of you.
Add your own
Add a stock clip or one of yours from the Media panel. Clips you place yourself are never moved or removed by the AI.
Who it’s for
Who it’s for, and when another tool fits better
A good fit when
- You film talking-head reels and want cutaways that match the point you’re making.
- You have footage of your product, workspace or process and want it used first.
- You want the whole edit, not only B-roll. EditorOP also cuts pauses and adds captions and graphics: see the AI reel editor.
Another tool fits better when
- You want footage generated from a text prompt. A text-to-video tool does that; our guide to AI video editors covers a few.
- You want B-roll added to a long YouTube video. Gling works on long videos and lists AI B-roll on its paid plans.
- You want many short clips with B-roll from one long recording. A clipper such as Vizard fits better.
- You need to show your real product or result. No stock clip can prove that: film it once and add it to your library.
FAQ
Questions
What is an AI B-roll generator?
It is a tool that adds cutaway footage to a video based on what is being said. Some tools generate new footage with a video model. EditorOP finds real clips instead: from your own B-roll library first, then stock footage from Pexels, and places each one on the line it illustrates.
Can EditorOP use my own B-roll?
Yes. Add clips to your B-roll library once and reuse them in every project. Describe each clip in a few words so EditorOP can match it to what you say. Your clips are searched before stock, or you can choose My library only.
Where does the stock footage come from?
Stock cutaways come from Pexels. EditorOP checks each candidate against the sentence it would play over and places the closest match. You can replace any clip with another stock search or one of your own.
Will B-roll cover my face?
Only in a fullscreen cutaway, which replaces you for a moment. The picture-in-picture and screen-on-top layouts keep you on screen. Auto, the default, fits each cutaway without cropping your face, and you can change the layout of any cutaway.
How much B-roll does it add?
Not much, on purpose. Stock cutaways are kept sparse so the reel stays about you: the Light intensity adds the fewest and Bold the most. Clips from your own library are not held to the stock limit.
