Audio Normalizer (LUFS)

Loudness normalization changes a file’s volume so it measures a chosen loudness in LUFS. Drop in a video or audio file, choose a target such as −14 LUFS, and download the normalized audio as a WAV file. The tool measures loudness with the ITU-R BS.1770 method and stops short of the target if a louder level would push peaks past your ceiling.

MP4, MOV, M4A, MP3 or WAV, up to 10 minutes and 500 MB. The file is read in your browser and never leaves your device.

FAQ

Questions

What is LUFS?

LUFS (loudness units relative to full scale) measures how loud audio sounds over time, using the ITU-R BS.1770 method. Unlike peak level, it follows perceived loudness, so two files at the same LUFS sound about equally loud.

What loudness should I use for Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts?

−14 LUFS is a common target for short-form video. Apps may adjust playback volume themselves, so normalizing mainly keeps your videos consistent with each other and with what viewers hear next.

Why is my result quieter than the target?

Reaching the target would push the loudest peaks past the ceiling you set, so the tool stops at the ceiling instead of clipping. A limiter in an audio editor can bring the peaks down if you need the full target.

Does it change my video?

It gives you the normalized audio as a WAV file. Put it back under your video in any editor.

How long a file can I use?

Up to 10 minutes and 500 MB. The tool holds the whole audio in your browser’s memory, so trim longer recordings first.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The tool runs in your browser, so your script or file never leaves your device.
