Reels Safe Zone Checker

The safe zone is the part of a 9:16 video that an app’s buttons, captions and profile details leave uncovered. Upload a frame or a video below and switch on Instagram Reels, TikTok or YouTube Shorts to see the areas to keep clear. The zones are approximate, because each app’s layout changes by device and app version.

FAQ

Questions

What is the Instagram Reels safe zone?

Meta’s ad guidance asks you to keep at least 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% of each side of a Reel free of text and logos. On a 1080 × 1920 video that is about 269 pixels at the top, 672 at the bottom and 65 on each side.

Do the safe zones differ between TikTok, Reels and Shorts?

Yes. Each app places its buttons, caption and profile name differently, and TikTok’s buttons take a wide column on the right. Switch on every platform you post to and the checker outlines the area that is safe on all of them.

What size should a Reel, TikTok or Short be?

All three are vertical 9:16 videos. 1080 × 1920 pixels is the usual size, and it is what this checker draws the zones on.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The tool runs in your browser, so your script or file never leaves your device.
